If you are verifying the Maytag front-loading washer H18vB862(3B), here are its registry figures. At DOE's test use, it needs 481 kWh of electricity a year with an electric water heater and an electric dryer, plus 4,248 gallons of water. Its IMEF, the cubic feet of laundry washed per kilowatt-hour, dryer included, is 2.76, equal to its class median.
Energy and water per year
481 kWh a year with an electric water heater and an electric dryer
Computed by this site from the registry's IMEF and drum capacity at DOE's test use of 295 cycles a year. IMEF counts the washer, heating its water electrically, and the electric dryer's work on what the spin leaves wet — so this is the total for that kind of home. How it is calculated
The machine and its hot water alone, dryer not included: 128 kWh a year, as ENERGY STAR files it.
Not published: A home with a gas water heater, a gas dryer or line drying
DOE's rating assumes electric water heating and an electric dryer and files no split between the machine, the water heating and the drying.
Such a home uses less electricity than the total above; how much less, no registry says for this model.
4,248 gallons of water a year
Computed from the registry's IWF and drum capacity at the same 295 cycles a year.
Not published: What the water costs
water and sewer rates are set by thousands of local utilities and no free national source publishes them.
The gallons above are the figure to multiply by your own water and sewer rate.
This model is rated above the federal minimum IMEF for its class.

The 481 kWh figure is calculated by this site, not taken from the registry. It combines the registry's IMEF of 2.76 with this model's capacity, the drum's volume in cubic feet, of 4.5, at DOE's yearly test use. The source is the DOE CCD, retrieved 2026-10-25. That total counts the washer, its heated water and an electric dryer. ENERGY STAR files a separate machine-only figure of 128 kWh a year. It covers the machine and its electrically heated water alone, with the dryer left out. The gap between the two figures is therefore the dryer's share under the test assumptions. A home with a gas water heater or a gas dryer falls outside this scope. This page gives no electricity figure for that case. The steps are set out in how the yearly energy and water figures are calculated.

The 4,248 gallons a year is also this site's calculation, not a registry value. It uses the registry's IWF, the gallons of water used per cycle for each cubic foot of drum, of 3.2. That factor is applied to the 4.5 cubic-foot drum at DOE's yearly test use. The number of loads your own household runs is not in the data. The cost of this water is not shown. No free national source publishes local water and sewer rates, so any cost figure here would be a guess. Electricity follows the same limit. The running cost depends on your own utility's electricity tariff. For that reason the page computes it from your ZIP code instead of stating it in this text.
This model is compared with the 360 models registered as front-loading, standard size. Its IMEF of 2.76 equals the class median of 2.76. By IMEF it ranks 101st highest of 360. It is rated above the federal minimum IMEF for its class, while 37 models in the class sit at that minimum. A higher IMEF means more laundry washed per kilowatt-hour. A rating at the median therefore places this washer in the middle of its registered class, not at either end. The same rating applies to units sold as MHW5630H**, MHW5630M**. The modeled installed-cost range appears in its own block, with its source and date, and is not a quote. Other registered models are listed under all clothes washer pages.
